Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto
Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto is a transformation of IKIP (Teachers’ Training College) Muhammadiyah Purwokerto established on April 5, 1965, or Monday Pahing 3 Dzulhijjah 1384 H, a branch of IKIP Muhammadiyah Surakarta at Jalan dr. Purwokerto figures. Initially, the Purwokerto Branch of the IKIP Muhammadiyah Surakarta consisted of two faculties, namely the Faculty of Education (FIP) and General Education. In 1968, it separated and became IKIP Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, and Drs. H. Djarwoto Aminoto was the first Rector.
In 1985, IKIP Muhammadiyah Purwokerto relocated its location from JL. Dr. Angka to Dukuhwaluh Purwokerto. This transfer took place gradually and was completed with all the activities and offices of the Muhamamdiyah Teachers’ Training College conducted in Dukuhwaluh on October 1, 1986.
After that, in 1995, with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture No. 345/DIKTI/Kep/1995 dated July 26, 1995, concerning Changes in the Form of IKIP Muhammadiyah Purwokerto to become Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. So after more than 30 years as IKIP since July 26, 1995, it changed its form to become Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. This change had consequences, namely the closure of IKIP Muhammadiyah Purwokerto and adjustments and improvements between the names of university, faculties, and study programs.
Until now, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto has 11 Faculties with 36 D3, D4, and Undergraduate Study Programs, 7 Graduate Study Programs, 5 Professional Programs, and it could develop in the future. Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto has now developed into one of the private institutions to be reckoned with. This condition can be seen from the continued increase in the number of students admitted. Supported by adequate facilities and infrastructure, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto equips its graduates with good knowledge wrapped in an Islamic spirit, so it is hoped that graduates of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto can become “Rahmatan Lil’ Alamin.”

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, was established on June 1, 1995, together with three other faculties, namely the Faculty of Fisheries, Agriculture, and Engineering.
The Faculty of Economics and Business initially obtained the status of “Registered” with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No.: 345/DIKTI/KEP/1995, and starting from the 1995/1996 academic year, the Faculty of Economics and Business opened three study programs, namely the Undergraduate Management Study Program, Undergraduate, and D III Accounting.
Currently, the Faculty of Economics and Business already has 5 study programs, namely Master of Management, Undergraduate Management, Undergraduate Accounting, Undergraduate Digital Business, and Diploma Accounting with the following details:
1. The Master of Management Study Program is Accredited Very Good with Decree No. 10729/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PKP/M/IX/2021, Dated September 8, 2021.
2. Undergraduate Management Study Program is Accredited Excellent with SK BAN-PT No.2814/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/S/V/2021 May 11, 2021.
3. Undergraduate Accounting Study Program is Accredited Excellent with SK No. 2809/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/S/V/2021 Dated May 11, 2021.
4. Diploma III Accounting Study Program is Accredited Excellent with SK No. 2806/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/Dipl-III/V/2021 Dated May 11, 2021.
5. Undergraduate Digital Business Study Program is in the process of accreditation.
